Our client, an international multi-site leisure business, is seeking a commercially minded CFO to drive the business as it continues to expand internationally, primarily across the US. Acting as a strategic partner to the CEO and other members of the Senior Management Team, the CFO will be offering sustained commercial, financial and operational input at Board level whilst also ensuring the business has a robust finance function to support rapid growth. This role would ideally suit somebody with previous experience working in a fast-paced, VC/ PE backed leisure/retail business and the new CFO will need previous fundraising/ transaction experience.

Role

  • Full responsibility for the Finance team
  • Key member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), with heavy involvement in commercial aspects of the business to deliver growth both domestically and internationally.
  • Coordination and preparation of:
  • All statutory reporting
  • Monthly management accounts, including cash and performance forecasts
  • Key support with future fundraising
  • Supporting senior management in the professionalization of a fast growing and entrepreneurial business, including, but not limited to:
  • Continued refinement and interpretation of KPIs
  • Continued refinement of and adherence to appropriate internal controls
  • Provision of strategic insight and support across the business from the finance function
  • Oversight of:
  • Company secretarial duties
  • Treasury and working capital management
  • Commercial risk management
  • Responsible for managing Insurance Relationships
  • Lead on all tax matters
  • Responsible for day-today banking relationships

Characteristics

  • Proven and experienced CFO with a formal accounting qualification (ACA or equivalent)
  • Highly motivated individual with a vibrant , hands-on approach to business
  • Strong team player, with good emotional intelligence
  • Demonstrable leadership experience capable of developing and mentoring teams
  • Commercial and strategic mindset with the ability to work outside the traditional confines of finance
  • Ability to interact both at the Board level and with non-finance
  • Effective interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Understands the demands of a fast growing business, with the ability to control this growth through on-going professionalization of the finance function

Experience

  • Experience of fast growing businesses ideally within multi-site Leisure/ Retail
  • Experience of building a high quality Finance and team.
  • International experience, especially US
  • Previous fundraising/ transaction experience
  • Previous member of Exec Team
