Our client is a fast growing, award winning designer fashion brand and they are now looking to recruit a Finance Director to work as peer level strategic partner to the owner founder. Ideally having previous e-commerce/retail experience, you will be seeking a broad, highly visible role in a business that is well positioned to grow both in the UK and overseas. As FD you will lead all financial reporting, daily and strategic, be responsible for the day-to-day running of the Finance function and be pivotal in the future robust financial growth of the brand alongside the Founder, commercial team, and external HR and Legal teams.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for both management and investors.
  • Leading all financial planning and analysis (FP&A), including forecasting, budgeting, and cash flow management, reporting against forecasts and responding proactively.
  • Ensuring compliance with, and accurate reporting of taxes including PAYE / NIC, VAT, Corporation Tax, US / Global Sales Taxes, Customs & Duties.
  • Helping the team to develop strategies to increase return on investment and profitability.
  • Assisting in implementing new global e-commerce payment platforms with Shopify and ensuring accurate payment reconciliations and alignment with accurate stock reporting.
  • Assisting with the financial aspects of new growth opportunities in International markets.
  • Managing with wholesale the prompt receivables collection and accurate and timely payment of suppliers.
  • Leading on HR contracts, payroll and compliance.
  • Ensuring adherence to all financial (incl IFRS), regulatory and tax reporting requirements.
  • Ensuring legal compliance on expansion into other overseas territories – trade marks etc and customer bases, new product groups, data protection and GDPR including ad hoc legal work.

Profile

  • ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified accountant (or equivalent) operating at Finance Director level in an SME or equivalent level in a larger organisation, ideally with some previous exposure to HR.
  • A strong track record in a finance department at high-achieving growing companies in the retail sector
  • Experience of brand-led, multi-site retail in an omnichannel, entrepreneurial environment
  • An analytical mind with strong financial modelling and technical accounting, with excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Powerpoint)
  • Ideally experience working with Shopify and accounting systems such as Xero / Quickbooks and/ or other ERP systems
  • Proactivity, attention to detail, great team skills and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced work environment
