African Gifted Foundation

We support African Gifted Foundation, a UK-based charity founded by one of our clients, Tom Ilube CBE. It focuses on STEM education for girls in Africa. In 2016, AGF founded the African Science Academy - Africa's leading STEM-focused academy for girls . AGF believes science and technology will drive Africa’s re-invention and they are searching for the next STEM giants who they believe are brilliant young female scientists and engineers hidden away amongst the billion people on the African continent. AGF wants to harness the immense potential of young women in Africa to take charge of the development of their countries and become the STEM leaders of tomorrow.Their mission: To showcase that Africa is rich when it comes to the pipeline of STEM talent. To change the gender balance in STEM for generations to come. To create Africa's future STEM leaders .To foster an environment that encourages innovative solutions to Africa's problems.

Creative Wick is an independent, non-profit, social enterprise, Community Interest Company established to facilitate a permanent, sustainable, creative economy in Hackney Wick and Fish Island.

Cindy joined the board of Creative Wick as a Non-Executive Director in 2019.

We have worked with Sweaty Betty a number of times over the years and are very excited to support their Sweaty Betty Foundation.

Their mission is to empower women and girls from every background to get active, and stay active, for life. They are an independent registered charity working across the UK and US.

Refactory

Equity FD is proud to be a sponsor of the Refactory programme in Uganda. www.refactory.ug

Founded just over five years ago, Refactory takes bright, young Ugandan men and women and puts them through an intensive 12 month software development programme, at the end of which the students graduate as highly employable junior software developers. The success of the programme can be measured by the fact that over 90% of its graduates go into highly paid employment within Uganda's embryonic technology sector.

The aim of the Refactory programme is to spearhead the creation of a technology industry in Uganda providing well-paid, professional job opportunities to Uganda's young people, thereby addressing the very high youth unemployment issue that Uganda currently faces and bringing valuable income into an economically poor country through the export of high-value software products and services. Equity FD's support for Refactory enables more young people to benefit from the programme and acquire the skills to launch their technology careers and contribute to the economic development of the country.
