Salary: Up to £130,000 plus equity

Our client is on a mission to reimagine the supply chain for one of the largest, yet least digitised sectors on the planet, to make ordering between contractors and suppliers easier, more efficient, and more cost effective.

With a substantial new investment being made, they are now adding talent across the senior team and key to the next phase of growth is the hire of a new Finance Director.

This is a Board role, working closely with the Founder / CEO and the rest of the Senior Team and will be pivotal in the next phase of value creation.

Candidates will be broadly skilled, with a business first mindset and capable of excelling in a dynamic, digital, B2B environment. Given the scaling nature of the business they must equally have a keen eye on the day-to-day financial operations of the business as on the strategy. They will be tasked with growing the finance and broader support teams and ensuring that the right processes, systems and controls (including a new accounting system) are developed and implemented to support and facilitate growth.

Key responsibilities of the role:

  • Partnering with the senior team to bring a data driven, evidence based approach to decision making .
  • Helping to develop and implement the commercial strategy, plans and budgets, as well as functional objectives, management practices and metrics in line with broader strategic objectives for future optimisation;
  • Continually monitoring financial performance, identifying opportunities to maximise revenue and cashflow
  • Developing and implementing efficient financial controls, processes and procedures and taking ownership of the full financial and accounting records, ensuring external compliance and statutory reporting requirements are met
  • Developing and continually improving (as the businesses grows) commentary and analysis of financial management information using key systems to give substantial visibility on financial data;
  • Determining the appropriate financial business objectives, budgeting/planning process, cost management and associated metrics, ensuring alignment with wider business strategic plans
  • Devising and maintaining appropriate metrics to track business performance on an ongoing basis including assessing the ongoing appropriateness of the current financial systems to support the expanding suite of products and where necessary, designing and implementing new systems to meet business needs.
  • Developing an existing small team
  • Responsible for all tax matters of the business and with a broader remit across HR, IT and Legal
  • Be the key point of contact for all external stakeholders / investors and on any future fundraise

Skills

  • Proven track record at a senior level in a fast growth B2B environment
  • Demonstrable experience of long-term value-creation and high-quality management information
  • Outstanding ability to inspire both direct and indirect colleagues as well as partners and suppliers to the business.
  • Previous experience in a tech / tech enabled business and exposure to PE/ VC an advantage
  • Ability and experience of working closely with an executive team to grow the business, and contribute to strategic discussions across all function areas;
  • Qualified Accountant with strong technical knowledge and a client centric, data driven approach;
  • Exceptional communication and organisational skills
  • Trustworthy; builds excellent relationships with peers
  • Ability to make accurate and quick decisions.
  • A naturally inquisitive mind, with the drive to explore problems further.
  • An ability to challenge the status quo and uncover problems that need resolution.
