Our client, a well-funded sustainable energy solutions company, is at an exciting point of inflexion with an impressive range of proprietary technology products. Operating within the fast growing area of green hydrogen and renewable chemicals and fuels, the business has major projects with large industrial blue chip clients and major infrastructure funds. They are now looking to recruit a highly driven CFO to lead strategic activities and help guide the company through its next phase of expansion.

Key responsibilities

  • Working with colleagues on the Senior Leadership Team to contribute to the strategic development of the business
  • Provide regular updates to the Board on progress and expected progress against financial targets and other performance indicators
  • Lead and build the finance team (currently x5 FTEs) improving the interaction with the business through the use of the business tools (Dynamics/ Power BI)
  • Provide guidance and expertise for the commercial financial modelling function
  • Lead on process/ IT systems change within the finance team and from the finance team back to the business
  • Driving improvements in the core management accounting functions and cost centre mapping/ cash control of the business
  • Driving improved governance and procedures
  • Support future fundraises
  • Evaluate / refine tax strategy, including R&D Tax Credits/ RDEC
  • Stakeholder management


  • Fully qualified (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
  • Previous experience working within engineering/ manufacturing/technology development companies
  • SME experience, ideally in a business that has scaled significantly
  • Strong corporate governance skill set
  • Strategic thinker and business planner, with a high degree of skill and experience able to present credible models to support valuation scenarios
  • Experience of guiding innovative technology/ manufacturing companies to an exit would be advantageous but not essential
