Finance Director

Our client is an international high growth media/ technology business with fantastic future plans. The business is looking to recruit a Finance Director who will lead the finance department to provide effective management of the company’s finances and support the rest of the management team in the strategic management of the group. Importantly the FD will be responsible for maintaining appropriate controls, forecasts and commercial analyses ensuring timely and accurate reports and accounts, and through these assist the business in achieving its objectives. A key part of this role will be providing analytical insights and building out financial models to aid with the company’s strategic plans and driving change and innovation across the business.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work with the team as a motivator, facilitator and driver for financial performance with the emphasis on cash in addition to profit Manage the working capital of the business
  • Maximising sales and margin opportunities
  • Effective management of a small finance team
  • Building out forecasting models, ensuring these present a true view of company targets/plans and work with the leadership team to present this to the board, investors and other key stakeholders
  • Responsible for data analysis and working to turn that analysis into wisdom and positive action across the business
  • Lead and continuously improve the finance team to deliver positive results across the company
  • Partnering with key stakeholders and CEO to be integral to the development of the company’s strategic plans and their implementation, driving change and innovation across the business.
  • Statutory accounts, reports and filing
  • Be the trusted advisor to the CEO and the wider leadership team, assisting with rigorous assessment of performance against financial and non-financial and future plans.
  • Work closely with the CEO on any future investment raises and take the lead particularly on the financial elements associated with the raise (i.e. financial model, financial forecasts, management accounts, etc)
  • Provide timely, accurate and relevant information to fully support the business
  • Ensure appropriate credit control and treasury policies are in place
  • Responsible for the effective management of stakeholder relationships including Investors and Bank
  • Ensure suitable and robust financial controls are maintained across the company
  • Lead and control the annual audit process
  • Ensure legal and regulatory compliance
  • Attend and present quarterly financial performance and analysis to senior management and Board of Directors.

The Person

  • Proven experience ideally gained in a Tech organisation
  • Strong Commercial understanding
  • Excellence knowledge of data analysis and forecasting methods
  • Ability to problem solve and see the wider picture
  • Strong leadership and organisational skills with a high level of attention to detail
  • Previous experience of successfully raising investment and keeping the company on track to deliver the targets desirable
  • A relevant Accountancy Qualification i.e. ACCA, CIMA, ACA

Preferred experience

  • Work with a high-growth investment or VC backed entrepreneurial SME.
  • Exposure or direct experience in Media and Entertainment industry preferably Games.
  • Experience with outsourcing / freelance compliance.
