Our client is an exciting, B2C multi-site roll-out ,combining technology with a next generation trusted brand offering outstanding service levels. Well-funded, it has committed founders and investors looking to take the business on a rapid expansion journey, growing to 25 sites by the end of 2022. They aim to use a mix of owned shops, acquisitions and concession stores, already partnering with large leading retail chains. As a key part of this rapid growth, they are now seeking a dynamic Head of Finance to join the leadership team and play an important role in the value creation journey. The role is broad and varied encompassing full oversight of finance and building a first in class finance function as well as supporting future fundraises, strategic involvement with site acquisitions and providing investment decision making analysis that support a rapid shop roll out. The role will work closely with a talented and entrepreneurial team and makes an ideal opportunity for a commercial finance professional looking for that next step towards CFO.

Key responsibilities:

  • Prepare reports for Executives, shareholders and other stakeholders
  • Lead on management and financial reporting., including statutory reporting and filings
  • Manage budgeting process (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash)
  • Preparation of monthly management accounts, with budget analysis and shop comparatives
  • Implement commercial KPIs and measure that support decision making and analysis
  • Improve and streamline existing financial controls and processes, using technology to automate, ensuring IT systems are relevant and fit for purpose/scale.
  • Full oversight of FP&A, including financial modelling of investments, new business opportunities
  • Build robust cash flow forecasts and support future fund raises
  • Market analysis and scenario planning
  • Working with Marketing and other team members in assessing the financial implications of initiatives under consideration and developing reporting functionality that supports the team beyond the finance function
  • Take an active role in managing costs, risk and developing strategic goals
  • Business partner to the Founder and functional heads
  • Clearly communicate finance policies and procedures
  • Ad hoc project work as needed
  • Management of the management accountant, building the finance function as required

Requirements:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with experience in a start-up or high growth company
  • Ideally, experience gained within a multi-site organisation
  • Strong IT skills, ideally having worked with Xero
  • Ideally have worked in Private Equity or VC backed company
  • Structured approach to managing data and processing transactions
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, organised and attentive to detail
  • Team player who can understand their role and ensure the Finance functions supports other functions
  • Flexible and willing to travel occasionally to varied locations
