Interim Group Financial Controller (min contract 3 months +)

Our client is a group of complementary businesses. With recent PE backing they are embarking on a fast-paced buy and build, both in the UK and across Europe. This ambitious growth strategy drives the requirement for a newly created role of Group Financial Controller to support the strategy and drive improvements to control, financial processes and reporting. The finance function needs building from scratch to support this growth and provide best in class reporting. Reporting directly to the CFO, and based in the Head Office in Reading, the Group FC will be accountable for the delivery of all aspects of the Finance function to the highest standards of quality and compliance. A strong leader, focused on meeting the business’s aims and objectives from a finance perspective, whilst delivering reporting and analysis as required underpinning commercial decisions based on sound financial data.


Key Role Accountabilities

  • Undertaking Group forecasting + budgeting; consolidation, challenge and sign off; highlighting areas of financial risk or concern
  • Development of board packs and KPI measurements
  • Supporting growth and EBITDA growth within a newly investor facing organisation
  • Assistance with acquisitions, data room and due diligence
  • Timely integration of newly acquired businesses
  • Being technical lead tax, audit & financial risk - advising on, guiding and undertaking all related activities
  • Ensuring the financial reporting requirements of the business are met, with responsibility for providing analysis of Group financial performance;
  • Cash flow management, and rolling forecast
  • Manage production of accurate monthly Group Management Accounts within defined timelines
  • Overseeing and improving internal control procedures to maintain the Company's compliance with all financial regulations
  • Providing ad hoc reports to the Group Board as required


Key skills required include

  • Qualified accountant
  • Experience of M&A integration preferably in a PE backed / rapid growth environment
  • Excellent knowledge of breadth of Finance functions, financial regulatory and compliance requirements
  • Strong leadership skills and experience – a high EQ with a track record of managing change and developing Finance functions
  • Strong Excel and general IT skills
