Our client is a uniquely positioned group that aims to get infrastructure finance multiplying and moving to mobilise private sector investment in Africa and SE Asia. They are focussed on accelerating climate change action and sustainable development where most urgently needed. The group is funded by a number of governments and blends this with commercial / PE funding at the project and company level and is at the forefront of ESG / development impact.

With a desire to secure a possible future successor, the Group CFO is looking to recruit a number two to sit with the holding company and take day to day responsibility for running the holding company and co-ordinate wider group finance functions. This is a broad-based role including financial reporting, finance business partnering MI and one that will require strong relationship management across the group, which operates across Africa and Asia.

The role represents a fantastic opportunity for an experienced finance professional to play a key role in an organisation delivering measurable and real impact, with an opportunity to progress to CFO.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Deputise for and support to the Group CFO as required
  • Manage relationships with key stakeholders (including governments and prospective investors) in respect of funding
  • Responsibility for the day to day running and oversight of the Holding company and Group finance function
  • Assist on project-based integration work, as they look to streamline the legal and operating structures
  • Support and advise on global treasury matters to the Groups ALCO
  • Managing a small finance team including a Group Financial Controller
  • Lead the Group annual business plan and budgeting processes and report to board, including reporting of monthly results
  • Responsibility for all management reporting for the holding company and Group
  • Responsibility for financial KPI and value for money (VFM) metrics
  • Reviewing of team members’ work
  • Supervising the statutory audit, accounts preparation and corporation tax computations
  • Coordinate external audits across the group


Requirements:

  • You will be a qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA) with emerging market exposure
  • Experience of private markets (Infrastructure, PE, VC, Private Debt) and / or global corporate banking and treasury management experience, and / or working with government departments or PPP arrangements and / or experience working with impact focused INGO’s
  • Good IFRS knowledge and comfortable with international tax and PAYE calculations. IFRS experience to include IFRS 9 and 10, including IPEV based valuations
  • Good at team management and leadership
  • Strong Excel, report writing and communication skills, comfortable with presenting to Boards and Audit Committees
  • Exposure to long term financial planning and modelling as well as group wide reporting, planning and budgeting
