Group Financial Controller

Salary: To £110k + car allowance + bonus + potential upside

Our client is a multi-site, acquisitive services group with turnover approaching £100m. With a well-established leadership team and plans to take on substantial equity investment, they have a newly created vacancy for an ambitious Group Financial Controller. The role will be pivotal in supporting planned substantial growth and driving improvements in reporting and controls. The role will be a true, value add partner to the Group Finance Director, accountable for delivery across all aspects of the finance function and will require an individual who is a team player and leader in equal measure. The role has real profile within the business and as such will require some travel between UK sites.


Key accountabilities:

  • Leading the Group Finance functions (current team size is 29, across 4 sites)
  • Group forecasting, budgeting, and consolidations, providing challenge where necessary
  • Supporting growth and EBITDA growth within a newly investor facing organisation
  • Assistance with acquisitions and integrations
  • Undertaking a full review of the current finance function, working with the Group FD to optimise resource , improving automation and month end close
  • Ensuring the financial reporting requirements of the business are met, with responsibility for providing analysis of Group financial performance
  • Cash flow management, and rolling forecast
  • Ensuring all regulatory and third-party compliance requirements are met
  • Manage production of accurate monthly Group Management Accounts
  • Developing and maintaining all necessary systems, policies and procedures to ensure effective and efficient financial management within the company
  • Overseeing delivery of Finance projects and providing ad hoc reports to the Group Board
  • Deputise for Group FD as required.


Key Skills required:

  • You will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
  • Ideally a blend of contract and project delivery in a high-volume service environment
  • Experience of M&A integration preferably in a PE backed / rapid growth environment
  • Excellent knowledge of breadth of Finance functions, financial regulatory and compliance requirements
  • Excellent systems and excel skills and ability to automate and structure best in class finance teams
  • Strong leadership skills and experience – a high EQ with a track record of managing operational and cultural change and developing finance functions
  • Ability to build good working relationships with excellent verbal and written communication skills
