Group Financial Controller

As part of their continued growth and focus on quality and service, they are now seeking a high calibre Group Financial Controller to manage and develop the substantial Group finance function which acts as a partner across the operations. The role has real profile being a key support to the CFO and gaining exposure to the Private Equity investors and board. Exceptional IT skills and the ability to employ these to enhance commercial and operational excellence are a key requirement of the role (data modelling, power query and Power BI) as well as the ability to communicate across levels and lead on initiatives.

Key responsibilities:

  • Managing and developing the Group’s finance function comprising 14 staff
  • Preparation of the monthly Board Pack for discussion with the Board and P/E backers
  • Ownership of the annual budgeting and re-forecasting processes including investor presentations.
  • Overseeing and driving timely completion of the monthly preparation of management accounts including the Group consolidation.
  • Review financial processes and procedures to streamline the finance function.
  • Ability to challenge and replace established processes and procedures where necessary.
  • Acquisition and completion accounting, including fair value accounting, for business combinations
  • Corporation tax and VAT reporting
  • Primary lead in Financially integrating business acquisitions (transaction back-office consolidation, system adoption and standardised reporting)
  • Continual drive to support and improve margin through effective financial control and commercial acumen.
  • Develop and get best use (reporting, embedded controls and process improvements etc.) out of the newly implemented Finance system.
  • Retain an on-going appreciation of the exit strategy and the need to maintain and produce comparable, stable data streams to support that aim.

Candidate:

  • You will be a qualified accountant with relevant industry experience, ideally in larger multi-site businesses.
  • Exceptional IT skills particularly with MS Excel, Power Query and data modelling and comfortable dealing with automation of large amounts of data entry into the accounting system.
  • Experience building and creating reports and integrations with Power BI.
  • Experience in designing new financial control systems
  • Seeking a driven and motivated individual looking to continue in an already proven career.
  • Broad experience of Group accounting essential including equity consolidations, preparation of cash-flows, multi company monthly consolidation reporting, acquisition accounting, fair value, completion reviews etc.
