Financial Controller

Our PE backed client, is a leader in its field playing an integral and practical business support role at the heart of its network of National customers. With the focus on growth and a value-added service offering, they now seek a Financial Controller to oversee day to day management of the finance function, providing insightful reporting and commercial analysis to the board and supporting strategic planning and EBITDA growth. The role provides an opportunity for a candidate to consolidate their previous FP&A / FC experience and learn from a commercial CFO, as well as gain exposure to the PE value creation journey that the business is part way through.

Salary: To £80k + Bonus

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with the formulation of both the medium and long-term financial plan
  • Oversee the budgeting process, working closely with senior management
  • Delivery of competitor analysis, market trends and associated commentary to the Leadership team
  • Ensure control policies and procedures are relevant and adequate to protect the business.
  • Complete all cash flow analysis, including the rolling 13-week cash forecast
  • Compliance with all tax requirements, such as PAYE, CIS, VAT, Corporation Tax
  • Ensure all company audits and tax return information is completed in a timely fashion and optimum results are achieved.
  • Complete and review monthly management accounts, covenant testing and KPIs and provide variance analysis
  • Analyse margins and provide recommendations for improvement / review
  • Management of the finance department, including sales and purchase ledger and payroll
  • Analysis of expenditure across the business and to highlight inefficiencies and potential cost savings
  • P&L management and balance sheet production and review, forecasting of revenue and costs
  • Liaise with external accountants and advisors, particularly in support of the statutory audit and tax computations

The Person:

  • You will be a Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
  • Previous experience as FP&A, Financial Controller
  • Strong IT skills, notably Excel and database systems as well banking facilities
  • Experience of leading and managing others
  • Previous experience of accounting systems essential
  • Experience of PE preferable
