Head of Finance

Salary: £80-£110k + Options

Backed by leading venture capital funds our client is an exciting AI startup with an impressive, international client base. They are now looking to recruit a Head of Finance to work with a highly driven management team as they seek to drive the future growth both in the UK and overseas.

Key responsibilities

  • You’ll be coming in at a critical time to help:
  • Manage a finance function capable of supporting the business as it scales
  • End to end ownership of the full financial and accounting records, ensuring HMRC and other statutory reporting requirements are met.
  • Build out KPIs to monitor financial performance, and to create and own a company-wide budget to manage their finances
  • Work with external accountants to review financial management information (such as P&L, quarterly and annual accounts, and other financial KPls) and monitor all company tax matters
  • Manage and maintain key company schemes e.g. employee share option schemes
  • Work closely with the leadership team to contribute to venture backed fundraises, and other fundraising mechanisms, including innovation grants
  • Work with the Sales and Account Management teams to manage the end to end financial journey of a customer, including pricing, discounting, invoicing etc
  • Own ad hoc projects as they arise e.g. R&D Credits


What you’ll need to succeed in this role

  • Strong technical finance skills and accounting qualifications (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) – you’ll be the first and only member of their in-house finance team for a period so you’ll need to be confident with all that comes your way
  • Proven track record at a senior level in a fast growth / early stage environment – experience working closely with an exec team and contributing to strategic discussions is a definite bonus
  • Experience in a high IP / deep tech business and exposure to PE/VC preferred
  • Familiarity with building a finance function from scratch a bonus
