Group Financial Controller

Salary: £90 – 110k + bonus

Our PE backed client is a high growth SME which has built its blue-chip client base through continual development of innovative digital solutions and services. Always pushing boundaries and with an acquisitive appetite they have created a new role of Group Financial Controller to support an experienced CFO in the rolling out of a new group structure. As a true business partner, the role would suit a progressive accountant looking to develop to CFO in a PE backed company and gain transaction and commercial experience.

Responsibilities include:

  • All group consolidated reporting (monthly management accounts, monthly bank reporting and annual financial statements), covenant compliance and KPIs
  • Timely preparation of accurate monthly management accounts for all group entities
  • Lead, manage, coach and develop the finance function providing technical guidance where necessary
  • Providing commercial support and analysis to department heads
  • Preparation of financial Board packs and presentations
  • Supporting the CFO in delivering the annual budgeting and quarterly reforecasting processes across the Group for the P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow and all key KPIs
  • Maintain a robust financial control environment, ensuring that risks are adequately mitigated with appropriate controls and processes are constantly challenged
  • There is a need to implement a new finance system and improve control and reporting
  • Production of statutory accounts for the Group (under UK GAAP), formulation of accounting policy and associated technical papers
  • Oversee the setting up of entities in new jurisdictions, including compliance with local tax requirements (direct and indirect)
  • Lead the annual external audit process for the Group as well as tax compliance and R&D
  • Supporting the CFO in the execution of acquisitions, debt financing, and managing post deal integrations

Experience / qualifications:

  • Qualified accountant, strong academics and educated to degree level
  • Experience working within a manufacturing organisation would be an advantage
  • Experience of group consolidations, including international subsidiaries
  • Sound all round knowledge of tax
  • Strong technical knowledge of statutory accounting (UK GAAP) and compliance, with experience of M&A and taxation
  • Strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail and deadline oriented
  • Ability to communicate with people at every level, including presenting at board level
  • Strong IT and systems skills, in particular MS Excel, with experience of development and implementation of new business wide software systems; and
  • Self-motivated, organised and capable of developing in the current role over time with the ambition and drive to develop
