Our client is a leading supplier and trusted partner to Blue Chip retailers in the UK and APAC. It develops feature rich, reliable, user-friendly products and has strong international outsourced manufacturing, quality and logistics capabilities. They are seeking a Financial Controller, in a newly created position, to have oversight of financial and management reporting, and to contribute to strategic direction providing the board with regular and accurate financial reporting, insights into performance and budgeting. The role would suit a candidate looking to gain hands-on experience in an SME or someone looking for their first move out of practice.

Role and responsibilities:

  • Financial assessment & input on various projects and business opportunities as they arise, including new business investment analysis and pricing support
  • Developing KPI reporting and dashboards, by revenue stream
  • Input into the group strategic planning process.
  • Timely preparation of accurate monthly management accounts for all group companies and consolidated group accounts, including the remote management of the external accountant in the Hong Kong office.
  • Project managing the implementation of a new business system (already specified and defined, so oversight contained to roll out).
  • Preparation of an annual financial budget.
  • Periodic cash flow forecasting.
  • Regular reforecasting with analysis and insight into reasons for variance from budget/plan.
  • Management of the annual audit process, including preparation of all working papers for the year-end statutory accounts and tax computations.
  • Oversight of the group’s IT systems.

Candidate profile:

  • Qualified accountant
  • Confidence to work at a senior level and provide effective financial leadership and management
  • Competence in all key areas of finance and accounting processes, and the ability to establish a dynamic finance function
  • Demonstrable ability and skill in engaging and working collaboratively at all levels
  • Excellent Excel skills
  • Good presentational and communication skills
  • Professional integrity, independence of thought, and the conviction to deliver quality.
