UK Financial Controller

Salary: To c. £90k + bonus / bens

Our scaling PE backed client has implemented an exciting strategy to diversify its business model and created a global multi-channel group with a strong presence internationally. As a leading multi-channel food business, it is expected to scale significantly, so they are looking to build a UK finance function. They are seeking a Financial Controller who will be responsible for all aspects of the UK business, including internal and external reporting, FP&A and team leadership (large team). You will co-ordinate budget and control cycles and act as a valued advisor to the UK CFO and senior management team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership, support and development to the finance department
  • Oversee all day-to-day accounting operations.
  • Manage cash flow, banking relationships and identify working capital improvements
  • Coordinate the preparation of the budget and forecasting
  • Provide accurate monthly management accounts which identify variances, trends, risks and opportunities, then challenge the business
  • Ensure all internal and external reporting meets deadlines and are compliant with relevant accounting standards and statutory law
  • Lead projects related to implementing improved procedures and strengthen controls whilst driving accuracy and efficiency
  • Manage the audit process and liaise with external stakeholders where required
  • Support the business with insights, growth initiatives and decision-making processes
  • Assist the UK CFO in preparing and presenting reports to board members and senior executives
  • Provide Adhoc analysis/project work as required

Requirements:

  • You will be degree educated and a qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA or ACCA)
  • Ideally Multi-site experience
  • Strong people manager, able to manage a team of qualified/non-qualified people
  • Advanced Excel (lookups/pivot tables)
  • A track record in cash management
  • A proven track record in embedding financial reporting systems, optimisation of processes and controls
  • Excellent understanding of all compliance requirements and management accounting
  • A growth mindset and curiosity
