Group Financial Controller

Our client, backed by a prestigious US firm is embarking on an ambitious growth strategy, with a significant number of acquisitions planned. Well established, they have grown operations across Europe, USA and China and specialise in supply of high-quality products for research, development and production for science and general industry. The group is well funded and committed to continual investment. They are looking to recruit a Group Financial Controller, reporting to an experienced CFO, to deliver strong, timely and accurate reporting across the group and lead the finance function. You will support growth, commercial decision making and acquisitions. The role will suit an ambitious finance professional looking to progress to CFO and work with a collaborative leadership team.

Responsibilities:

  • All group consolidated reporting (monthly management accounts, monthly bank reporting and annual financial statements), KPIs and monthly bank reporting
  • Lead, manage, coach and develop the finance function (including overseas finance staff) providing technical guidance where necessary
  • Assistant with acquisitions and integrations
  • Providing commercial support and analysis to department heads
  • Developing and managing financial models and provision of pricing support
  • Preparation of financial Board packs and presentations
  • Lead and manage the annual budgeting and quarterly reforecasting processes across the Group for the P&L, Balance Sheet, Cashflow and all key KPIs
  • Maintain a robust financial control environment, ensuring that risks are adequately mitigated with appropriate controls and processes are constantly challenged
  • Review of current systems and evaluation as to fitness of purpose and necessary upgrades or new
  • Weekly/monthly cash forecasting and Treasury management
  • Lead the annual external audit process for the Group as well as tax compliance and R&D
  • Other ad hoc duties as required and as the business develops further

Person specification:

  • Qualified accountant, strong academics and educated to degree level
  • Experience working within a manufacturing organisation would be an advantage
  • Strong technical knowledge of statutory accounting (IFRS) and compliance, with experience of M&A and taxation Although not essential, experience in a private equity backed environment would be preferable
  • A critical thinker, able to understand the underlying drivers of business performance and influence management through the presentation of financial data
  • Ability to communicate with people at every level, including presenting at board level
  • Experience of working in a multi-site or international business would be desirable
  • Strong IT and systems skills, in particular MS Excel, with experience of development and implementation of new business wide software systems; and
  • Self-motivated, organised and capable of developing in the current role over time with the ambition and drive to develop.
