Salary: To c. £85k, bonus + equity

Our client is a mission led, rapidly scaling EdTech business with a great management team, experienced Investors and a really exciting and transformative new product that was successfully launched in 2021. It is now planning for substantial growth and increased market penetration over the next 3-4 years, ahead an anticipated exit . As part of this journey, they are seeking a broadly skilled, Head of Finance to partner the CEO, support commercial decision making and help to create value. As well as full financial responsibility the role also includes oversight for HR and IT and will be important in supporting future fund raises. The client is about to move to a new East London location and hybrid working ( minimum 1 day in the office per week, although more if preferred) is envisaged.

Role and responsibilities:

  • All management and financial reporting, including statutory reports and filings
  • Manage the budget process (P&L, balance sheet, cash)
  • Preparation of monthly management accounts and board reports
  • Attendance and active participation at monthly board meetings
  • Manage the commercial KPIs and measures that support decision making by the executive and the board
  • Improve and streamline existing financial controls and processes
  • Financial modelling of new business initiatives
  • Maintain robust cash flow forecasts
  • Take an active role in managing costs and risk
  • Business partner to the CEO and senior management team
  • Support potential future fundraisings / exit opportunities
  • Management of accounting support team, building the finance function as required
  • Oversight of HR function, including management of EMI share scheme

Candidate profile:

  • Qualified accountant with excellent academic credentials
  • Ideally, experience of working in a senior financial position within an early stage, high growth business
  • Commercial appreciation to bridge financial reporting and control requirements and the needs of the business
  • Strong IT skills, ideally having worked with Xero
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, organised and attentive to detail
  • Enthusiastic with a proactive personality and a 'can do' approach
