Head of Finance

Our client is a renowned, Olivier award winning Producer and Manager of West End/ touring and International Theatre productions. With a number of iconic shows to its credit it has enjoyed exceptional growth and has a passionate and driven team. As part of continued growth plans, they are now looking to recruit the newly created role of Head of Finance to work with the leadership team which includes the founder and the COO.

Salary: £80-£90k subject to experience

The role is hands on and all encompassing, with real impact and influence and will include the following:

Responsibilities:

  • Lead on financial planning, projections and financial modelling and strategy
  • Prepare regular monthly management accounts on all show entities.
  • Prepare regular quarterly management accounts for head office companies
  • Oversee all accounting functions of all companies in the Group, managing a team of 3
  • Oversee and review day-to-day accounting procedures, control environment and cash cycles
  • Monitor cash balances across the Group’s portfolio of companies
  • Manage all HMRC communications and ensure all filings are up to date
  • Build and maintain relationships with the company’s clients, banks, auditors, solicitors and other specialists in the UK internationally
  • In consultation with the company’s UK & International tax advisors, advise the directors as to the most tax-efficient way to set up productions
  • Work closely with members of the production team to maintain and communicate a clear understanding of the financial status of each production
  • Recruitment and line management of all members of the Accounts Department
  • Ensure that the company’s accounting systems and software are continuously reviewed and upgraded, recommending new systems if required.

Knowledge, skills, experience:

  • You will be a Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
  • Significant experience in financial management, running a department and managing a small team.
  • Previous experience of reporting at or close to board level
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • The ability to work on a very varied workload and to juggle competing priorities.
  • Excellent written, numeracy and verbal communication skills.
  • Tact, diplomacy and discretion.
  • An eye for detail and accuracy.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel spreadsheets.
  • Knowledge of Sage would be an advantage and the ability to make recommendations for upgrading or replacing current systems.
  • Enthusiasm for the performing arts.
