Financial Controller

Our client is a high growth, multi-site SME business with plans for future acquisitions and expansion. The business combines retail and health services that provides a strong social purpose. As a result of growth, they have a newly created vacancy for a Head of Financial Control, to manage a high performing team and lead on all areas of financial reporting. Reporting to the Finance Director you will have responsibility for financial control and reporting, managing the finance function and transactional team and driving profits and improvements. Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the month-end accounting closure for the group (per entity and consolidated)
  • Implement, maintain and review the highest quality financial controls throughout the business to ensure that a strong platform is in place to support growth
  • Ensure that all revenues, costs, assets and liabilities are properly identified and recorded
  • Make sure that all financial control and process guidelines and policies are kept up to date
  • Work with the FD to identify profit and cash opportunities
  • Have ownership of the banking process, including banking relationships and supplier payments
  • Prepare the year end audit pack and manage the year-end statutory reporting process such that the audit is completed in a timely manner with no significant issues.
  • Manage the preparation of accounts and reporting process for sites, franchisees and joint ventures
  • Manage the payroll function, production of all VAT returns of the group
  • Maintain relationships with HMRC regarding corporate tax and VAT.
  • Lead, develop and motivate the Accounting function (Finance Manager, Accountants, Sales Ledger and Purchase Ledger teams)

Requirements:

  • You will be a qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA or ACCA)
  • Experience working within a fast-moving multi-site business
  • Track record of managing, developing and building finance teams
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Strong communication with senior management and external advisors
  • Good organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines
