EquityChair has been established as a natural extension to Equity FD. It brings a unique approach to the recruitment of chairmen for entrepreneurial SMEs, many of which are private equity backed and/or leveraged.
Equity FD was established in 2000 and since then has built strong relationships across the investor community as well as an excellent network of chairmen, many of whom have been clients.
Across the team we have thus experienced the unique set of pressures and deliverables incumbent upon the board in an exit driven environment and have a strong understanding of the mindset that must be shared if the value anticipated in the business plan is to be achieved.

Cindy Casciani heads up EquityChair and has over 10 years private equity experience, predominantly within 3i,managing the chairman and non-executive network. Cindy has appointed a substantial number of private equity chairmen across all sectors, sizes and locations and thus has in depth, first hand experience of recruiting chairmen at both pre and post deal stages.
Our Focus
EquityChair is exclusively focused on the recruitment of chairmen into entrepreneurial SMES, most often with private equity or venture capital backing and/or some degree of leverage.
Our focus on chairmen, who are positively looking to make a significant commercial contribution to a growing business, marks our service out from the crowd.
Our chairmen will:
- be positively seeking out a hands-on chairman role where they work with the CEO and FD to grow the business and deliver a successful exit for the shareholders;
- have a strong track record of value creation and exit as FD or CEO within a private equity backed/SME business;
- be able to demonstrate an understanding of how to build strong relationships with investors and lenders;
- probably have held a previous chairman role within a private equity backed business;
- have multi-company experience;
- be credible to CEOs and financial institutions;
- understand the core drivers of value creation;
- have relevant but not necessarily direct sector experience of the business in discussion;
- be able to demonstrate sound business judgement;
- have strong communication skills and be able to lead by persuasion;
- be energetic and passionate about business.
